Just flipping through an old issue of Dragon Magazine when I came upon this advertisement for The Complete Paladin’s Handbook…
I always wondered why I disliked the paladin class. Was it the unwavering dedication to lawful good? The insufferable amount of nobility one had to extend to others, even the obnoxious twerp sitting at your table playing the oh-so-delightful ‘oddball’ character that constantly gets your party into trouble? Or perhaps it was having to stop and pray/meditate/do whatever ritual your deity bids you to do every fifteen minutes?
No, it’s none of those things. It’s this:
Would you look at the mullet on that dude!!! I mean, I always liked my D&D fighter-types to have long hair, but it was always proportional long hair. This guy looks like he’s riding off to try out for the open keyboardist position in Night Ranger! Do paladin guidelines require you to have a giant mullet and Jay Leno chin before you can be accepted into the ranks?
